About GP Staff Academy
Practical learning for reception, nursing and practice management, shaped by experience in Australian general practice.
“Go and shadow Deb” was never a training plan.
GP Staff Academy was created by Katherine, a regional Queensland Practice Manager with extensive general-practice and front-desk experience. The courses draw on Australian first-party guidance and use fictional cases to connect everyday practice decisions with clear role boundaries.
The goal is useful learning that staff can apply in their own role: a foundation for new receptionists, focused workflows for nurses, and practical systems for managers. Choose the courses relevant to the person’s work, then use local supervision and observation to check how the learning transfers.
Practice-built
Designed around how Australian general practice actually runs.
Print-ready
Tools your team can print, localise and use alongside practice policies and supervision.
Local-policy ready
Designed to sit alongside your practice procedures, supervision and competency checks.
Practical learning should help the whole team.
The front desk protects safety
Receptionists do not diagnose or triage. They recognise urgent cues and connect patients to the right help.
Privacy is non-negotiable
One careless disclosure can breach the Privacy Act. We build the firewall first.
Billing needs boundaries
Staff explain fees and complete authorised processes; clinicians and the practice decide item eligibility.
Choose the task your team needs to do well.
Prepare a new starter, address a specific learning gap or support a new responsibility. Explore the course audience, activities and estimated time before choosing.
