Accreditation in Everyday Practice: Evidence, Team Readiness and Quality Improvement
Open an evidence folder that looks complete, find what it fails to prove, and build a chain from requirement to record that a surveyor can follow. Learn what surveyors actually ask for, and turn small improvements into everyday practice the team can explain.
Already completed this training? Quick refresher
A quick reminder for experienced staff. Revisit only what you need.
- Confirm the applicable standards with your accrediting agency.
- Trace evidence from the written procedure to observed work and an honest dated record.
- Keep unresolved safety gaps open; test a change with comparable before-and-after evidence.
Open the lessons and tools. Use current local procedures and sources.
This optional refresher does not record a new completion. Certificates require the full course and its assessments.
For you if…
The practice manager, principal GP, nurse lead or owner who carries accreditation. Lessons 4 and 8 are written to the manager and are useful for the whole team: lesson 8 has a one-page handout to print for reception and nurses before a mock interview or a visit.
What you’ll practise
- Confirming which edition of the Standards your next visit uses, as at September 2026.
- Linking a requirement to the local procedure, its owner and proof it happens, with every procedure in one place.
- Ranking gaps by risk, and keeping certificates separate from observed performance.
- Knowing the records surveyors ask for: CPR for all staff, induction, patient feedback, the fridge record, sterilisation and immunisation records, the incident register, and what happens after a “not met”.
- Tracing a cold-chain breach and a complaint; sampling information security, an outage, an emergency drill and the cold chain.
- Testing one change with a before-and-after count, and running an honest mock interview with a one-page staff handout.
How it works
Nine short, case-based lessons, practical tools and two automatically scored quizzes. Try each decision before opening the worked example. Allow about 55 minutes, including the assessments; workplace implementation is additional.
Pass the knowledge assessment with at least 80% and the safety decisions assessment with 100%. Read the feedback and retry as needed. The final case is a practice exercise with a checklist.
The people and practice in this course are made up. This course is professional development, not accredited CPD. It supports your preparation; it does not establish that the practice meets any accreditation requirement.
