Already completed this training? Quick refresher

A quick reminder for experienced staff. Revisit only what you need.

  • Clean hands at the right moments; gloves do not replace hand hygiene.
  • Follow the local spill and cleaning instructions, including protective equipment and contact time.
  • Urgent exposures, possible infectious arrivals and missing supplies need prompt accepted handover.

Open the lessons and tools. Use current local procedures and sources.

This optional refresher does not record a new completion. Certificates require the full course and its assessments.

Everyday infection prevention for general practice staff

Plan about 25 minutes for three short lessons and a nine-question check. There is no workbook or upload.

What you will practise

  • The five moments of hand hygiene in plain words; why gloves are not hand hygiene.
  • Your practice’s spill card, and what to do when an item is missing.
  • The questions to ask an unwell arrival, a mask, a separate place to wait, and the handover to the clinical team.
  • The label’s contact time, an empty hand-rub dispenser, and where waste and sharps go.
  • The first five minutes after a needlestick or splash, and who does what afterwards.

Lessons

  1. Hands, protection and arrivals
  2. Rooms, supplies and waste
  3. Exposure, backup and handover

How to finish

Complete the three lessons and answer all nine questions correctly, with feedback and retries and no time limit. Your certificate names Everyday Infection Prevention for General Practice Staff.

The people and practice in this course are made up; Rivergum General Practice’s defaults are examples your practice can change.

This is professional development, not accredited CPD. It does not assess hands-on technique or replace your practice’s induction. Reusable-device reprocessing is not covered.
